About Scots
In general: they are amazing! Such friendly and helpful people – we all love them and we got surprised more than one time!
E.g. the Lady from the Linwater camping spot: she never had a problem with us needing a lot of space to repair the scooters or making a lot of noise – no, on the contrary, she always helped us by telling where we could get everything, how to get there and she made us award only the half, because we had problems and let us stay all day long. As I said: Amazing!
Nevertheless, everywhere in this world are idiots: So when we had left Linwater after a second night with all scooters running (more or less well) and Arthur had left to bring back the trailer in time, we suddenly noticed, that Manus scooter only worked out when it was cold -.- Not very good for stop and go with traffic lights… That’s why we had to stop a few miles behind Edinburgh. First of all we decided to eat something at the local fish and chips booth. When I told them about our tour and that we needed a place to sleep, the girl in there told me where we could go for wild camping – it was awesome: a little lake with very small trails around and forest. We found a place that one could not really see from anywhere. As it got dark, we sometimes heard some spooky inexplicable circus-music. Very loud, as if it was just a few yards away from us. We never got to know what it was^^ Felt like a bad horror movie but funnier ;)
But back to the idiots: In the morning, when we got back to our scooters (Manu, Mart and Fabi were already working at Manus scooter at the petrol station), Alex noticed, that he could turn his handlebar without the turning tire – someone had tried to steal them! Besides this, one antenna was stolen, one broken and at the other scooters the steering wheel lock was stretched -.-
But again, while we were fixing all of this as good as possible, not less than five people asked if they could help, bring some tools or if we needed a place where one could leave the scooters for working on. I love the Scots!
In the end we could drive on to Pitlochry. Nevertheless we noticed, that Manu’s scooter wasn’t fixed completely yet, on the half way up to north… but this is another story ;)
